It was well polished and an extremely fun core experience with only a small handful of missions. You could play all the content in the game in well under two hours first time through.Even something as small (relatively speaking) as adding proper support for custom maps, instead of needing to make sure everyone had the exact same versions and launch and join through command line, would have been massive.Glad to see the community is picking it up, even it it has taken 7 years. I put about 150 hours into L4D2 when I first played it. The reason was pretty simple - I had a playgroup of about six people, and so we would often form a team of four and go rock the game. Versus mode was okay, but we were the kind of people who liked playing the game on expert realism, and who beat every single campaign (with the whole group surviving!) on those modes.Once we 100%ed all the expert realism campaigns, we were done with it, but it was a blast working together, covering each other's backs, ect.
While it lasted.I would never have played it for so long without a solid playgroup, but with a solid playgroup it was a ton of fun. It is a very intensely team-focused game.
