How To Play Caveira
I’ve been a fan of Ubisoft's games for years, playing, following, and participating in Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division, Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed, with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time being one of the first games I bought with my own money. I’m enthusiastic about the constantly changing face of Rainbow Six Siege in particular, as well as its community and esports scenes. Outside of Forbes, I have managed LetsPlayVideoGames.com and written for Wireframe Magazine, Destructoid, The Telegraph, Polygon and PCGamesN about everything from games to hardware. The author is a Forbes contributor. Correction: This article previous stated that Alpha Packs are a real-money purchase. This was erroneous, as they can only be bought through the use of in-game renown points. However, seasonal event packs, such as the Halloween 2018 Crimsonveil packs, can be purchased through R6 Credits, which cost real money. The article has been updated to reflect this.Rainbow Six Siege is currently at the center of a controversy surrounding censorship after Ubisoft unveiled “aesthetic changes” to the game that remove many references to death, sex and gambling. In its, Ubisoft outlines graphical changes coming to Year Three, Season Four as part of a “single, global version” of the game. In it, changes everything from UI icons such as melee kill and friendly fire notifiers, to graffiti and other decoration of numerous maps were shown off. Slot machines, neon signs of dancing women, environmental blood and graffiti featuring skulls will all be changed or removed entirely.
Caveira is definitely better in the hands of experienced players, which know the map, so they can flank or peek properly. But even if you are new-ish, your team will expect you to roam heavy and it's a pretty good way to learn the map meanwhile, using the silent step, trying to catch somebody off guard.

Skulls are being removed, but not Caveira. It is claimed that these changes will prevent the game from requiring multiple versions for various countries’ regulations, allowing for updates to be developed for a single build. Ubisoft are also quick to reassure players that no changes will be made to the “ Rainbow Six Siege experience”, and that this will only be a cosmetic change. However, this has not gone down well with the Siege community, who argue that the changes are tantamount to censorship. While the blog only cites “expansion into Asian territories”, it is believed these changes are specifically due to the game’s upcoming release in China, in partnership with Ubisoft shareholder and games behemoth Tencent’s service WeGame.
China is known for its restrictive censorship laws, angering international players who feel the game should not be changed for all due to the regulations of a single market.Players also note that the application of these graphical changes as currently outlined is inconsistent. If skulls are problematic for the Chinese market, why is Caveira, whose name literally means “skull” in Portugese and has skull-shaped face paint, getting away with no changes? And what of the recently included Halloween skins, which include Jager’s head being changed to a skull?
Rainbow Six Siege Caveira Tips
How is environmental blood, which is baked into the environments, any different from the dynamic blood splatters produced through gunfire? Caveira (right), an Operator with a heavily skull-inspired design. One of the biggest criticisms is that the removal of slot machines from the Club map is inconsistent with the game’s own seasonal packs loot box system, which is often considered being like gambling thanks to its combination of real-money purchases and randomised rewards.Despite popular belief from outside the country, representations of skulls and skeletons aren’t outright banned in China. However, the laws surrounding the media are broad and vague, according to, as skulls could be interpreted as promoting “superstitions” to some. The other changes are more clear-cut, though, with representations of gambling and anything promoting obscenity or violence being banned. It is important to note that, despite these concerns, the full scope of these graphical changes is yet to be confirmed or finalised. While it is unlikely Ubisoft will be willing to completely reverse the decision, the scale of the changes – and what they are replaced by – may be part of a conversation that will dominate the Siege community for a very long time.Covering Rainbow Six Siege, its community and competitive scene. I also really like simulators, indie games, Assassin’s Creed and computer hardware.
